Tune in for an honest, accessible conversation about taking control of your body and building lasting relief from the aches that too many people have simply learned to live with.

Hey there, welcome back. I’m Doctor Bob Vaughn from Catalyst Chiropractic and Rehab here in Blaine, Minnesota, and today we’re talking about something I hear about every single day in my clinic. Everyday aches and pains. That nagging stiffness in your neck when you wake up. The low back tension that creeps in by three in the afternoon. The shoulder tightness that just… won’t quit. Sound familiar?

Here’s the thing — most people assume that reaching for a painkiller is the only option. Or they think they just have to live with it. And I want to tell you today, that is not the case. There are real, natural strategies that can make a genuine difference in how you feel day to day. Let’s talk about a few of them.

First up — movement. Now I know that sounds almost too simple, but hear me out. One of the biggest contributors to everyday aches and pains is staying in one position for too long. Whether you’re sitting at a desk, driving, or even standing in one spot — your muscles tighten up, your joints get stiff, and your body starts talking to you. Not kindly.

The fix is not complicated. Every thirty to forty-five minutes, just get up and move. Walk to the kitchen. Do a few shoulder rolls. Tilt your head side to side gently. These small breaks do something really important — they keep fluid moving through your joints and remind your muscles to let go of tension they’ve been holding without you even realizing it.

Now here’s the second thing, and this one surprises a lot of people. Hydration. Your spinal discs — those cushions between the bones in your spine — are largely made up of water. When you’re not drinking enough throughout the day, those discs lose some of their ability to absorb shock and support your movement. That can translate directly into back and neck discomfort. So yes, drinking more water is genuinely good for your spine. Aim for consistent sips throughout the day rather than gulping a big glass all at once.

Third — and this is a big one — let’s talk about sleep position. A lot of people don’t realize that the way they sleep can be adding to their pain, not relieving it. Sleeping on your stomach, for example, forces your neck into a rotated position for hours at a time. That’s a recipe for waking up stiff and sore. Sleeping on your side with a pillow that keeps your head level with your spine, or on your back with a pillow under your knees — those positions give your body a much better chance to actually recover overnight.

So what can you start doing today? Try setting a timer at your desk to remind yourself to stand up and move every forty-five minutes. Grab a water bottle and keep it with you. And tonight, before you go to sleep, just think about your position. Small adjustments, done consistently, really do add up.

Now, here’s when I want you to think about coming in to see us. If you’ve been dealing with pain that’s been hanging around for more than a week or two — or if it keeps coming back no matter what you try — that’s a signal worth paying attention to. Sometimes the body needs more than lifestyle tweaks. Sometimes there’s a joint that isn’t moving the way it should, or a muscle imbalance that’s pulling things out of alignment. That’s exactly what we look at and address at Catalyst Chiropractic and Rehab.

We’re not just about adjustments either. We take a whole-person approach — looking at how you move, how you sit, how you sleep, and what’s actually driving your discomfort. Our goal is to get you feeling better and keep you that way.

So if you’re in the Blaine area and you’ve been brushing off that nagging pain, I’d love for you to come in and let us take a look. You deserve to feel good in your body every single day — not just on the good days.
